Greg is an experienced entrepreneur, investor and operator.
He is the Founder & CEO of Venice Brands (a boutique consulting firm that specializes in creating and acquiring companies and then overseeing their management) and Willsey & Company (a holding company that owns majority and minority equity positions in numerous companies in the food, beverage, hospitality, fitness, agriculture and personal care industries). Through these two entities, Greg has founded, invested in and acquired multiple consumer-branded companies, several of which he directly leads as the CEO. He targets adding a new company to his portfolio roughly every 18-24 months.
Notable companies that Greg has created and/or acquired include Joolies (alongside Kohl Family Farm), Desert Valley Date (also alongside Kohl Family Farm), KinderFarms (alongside Jeremy Adams and Jessica Biel), MW Fitness Holdings (alongside Floyd Mayweather Jr. and James Williams), Enroot (alongside Brad Pitt and FactoryMade Ventures), and Bread Head Restaurant Group (alongside Alex Williams, Jordan Snyder and Michael Pasternak).
Prior to his current roles, Greg helped launch Monogram Capital as one of three partners and as a member of the firm’s investment committee. While there, he helped the firm make 12 investments and raise its first committed fund ($152 million). His areas of focus ranged from deal sourcing and due diligence to transaction structuring and portfolio company oversight. His investments included Chewy, Country Archer, Planet Fitness, Ellenos, Dig, Healthy Spot and Kidfresh, among others.
Previously, Greg was the CFO & COO and P&L owner for POM Wonderful, the largest vertically integrated grower and marketer of pomegranates and related products. He designed and led a three-year turnaround effort that increased annual sales by over $100 million and returned POM to profitability through a combination of new product launches, sales & pricing initiatives and operational improvements. He started with the Wonderful Company (the owner of POM Wonderful) in Strategy and M&A, where he led the diligence of potential acquisitions as well as strategic initiatives.
Greg spent 5+ years at McKinsey & Company's Los Angeles office where he specialized in the consumer packaged goods, media & entertainment, and private equity sectors. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School (both with distinction), as well as the Calloway School of Business at Wake Forest (where he graduated first in his class).
